Im new to all this home theater stuff, and I need to know what to buy, to have a small home theater. I have the projector, so thats off the list. I have no clue what to buy for a mini home theater. I here people talking about HDMI, HDTV, and Recievers. But I dont know what that stuff is. I also need help with buying the correct cables and setting it up.
first off, don’t buy one of those home theater in a box (HTIB) systems. Get a Yamaha RX-VXXX receiver. A blue-ray dvd player, and some decent speakers….floorstanding, bookshelf or in-ceiling/in-wall. Klipsch, Polk, Monitor Audio, Energy, Boston Acoustics are all great brands with a wide range of style/price. DO NOT WIMP OUT ON THE CABLES!!! Get a good power conditioner (doesn’t have to be Monster Cable) but you are better off WITH one than w/o. Don’t buy the extended warranties on the speakers but do buy it on the reciever.
Agreed
More questions?Just e-mail me. I have owned a home theater business
Yes stay away from HTIB. a good forum to go to is they have a section dedicated to home theaters. First I want you to know that this can be a big project and read forums before you get in over your head. You can also email me if you have any questions, there is way to much to get to build a home theater. If you are having trouble understanding HDMI, HDTV then you should talk to a professional and not the guy at best buy. If you do some research you will learn it and believe me you will fall in love with designing and building a home theater.
