What is the best way to configure my home theater system?

I would like to hook up both my x-box 360 (which is my DVD player) and my satellite box. My home theater receiver has one digital audio optical interface port. I have this plugged into the x-box. Now, however, my satellite box only has either red and white cables or the digital audio optical connection.
What should I do? I have a 46" sony bravada HD TV that has digital audio out in optical as well. Is there a way to use that to resolve this issue? Can you get a splitter cable for the digital audio optical stuff? Do I need to buy a new receiver with more ports?
The bravada has an optical out, but no optical in... and even if it did, the home theater has only one optical in, and I'd still be only able to get the xbox in one or the other... if that makes sense.
I was hoping to not have to buy a different adapter for my xbox if it is not necessary.
My sat receiver has only Digital optical out, it does not have HDMI available [I do not have an HD satellite yet, we won't for another year... but I bought the TV anyway because I wanted a bigger TV.]

Does the Bravada not have an optical port on the side?
I would however hook up the Sat with the HDMI Cord then you have a free optical line for your xbox alternativly hook up the XBOX with the HDMI cable.

Well You have 2 choices. If you hook up the red and whites from either souce you can get Pro logic surround. If you have only one optical input im going to assume that you have an available digital coax in also so buy a optical to digital coax converter. I have never used one but I get cables from this place. This might solve your problem
You don’t need the optical out or in on the TV. Use the Optincal in for the x-box and the red and white stereo outs on the satellite box. When you play games or watch TV, you just change the audio source on the receiver. Check your instruction manual on the receiver, you should be able to program your remote to make this selection for you when you choose the video input.
One solution could be if your could route either the x-box into your sat. receiver or your sat. receiver into your x-box, this would solve your dilemma of only one optical connection.
Another solution would be to upgrade your receiver so you would have two or more optical inputs.
If this also is not feasible, I believe you already have the correct set up for your surround sound system. Connect the X-box via the optical cable to your receiver, and the sat. box to your receiver via the RCA cables to your receiver. Besides unless you have HD sat. box and receiving the signal you are probably not receiving the Dolby Digital 5.1 signal anyway.
