DDR
The abbreviation of DDR is Double Data Rate and it is a type of memory integrated circuit used in Central Processing Units (CPU) of the computers. The bandwidth of the double data rate (DDR) is twice that of the single data rate (SDR). The twice bandwidth is achieved by transferring data of the clock signal on the rising and falling edges and not making any changes in the clock frequency. The DDR SDRAM can give a maximum transfer rate of 1600 MB/s for a bus frequency of 100MHz.
JEDEC (Join Electron Device Engineering Council) solid state technology association has set some standards for the speed of the DDR SDRAM. The standards are divided into two parts, where the first part is for the memory chips specification and the second part is for memory module.
