Is there a home theater speaker system that sounds just as amazing as Bose but at a cheaper price?

Home Theater
Andrew B asked:

I have always wanted a Bose anything because I love the quality and sound from everything they have done. I know they can be a bit spendy. If there are some home theater speakers from other well known and reliable brands that work just as well I am definitely all ears. I am just in the market of buying a really great speaker system!

have a look at the SONY HT-IS100 its tiny speakers are great and the sound it gives is pretty amazing as well judging from the size of the speakers.

Call into any real Hi-Fi store and they will show you any number of speakers which will out perform Bose for considerably less money, a few that spring instantly to mind are Bowers and Wilkins, Dali Ikon and Tannoy.

Don’t buy into the ‘Bose are best because they’re expensive’ ideal.

Bose aren’t expensive, they’re dear, there is a difference.

Bose systems are a ripoff. Some of their products sound very nice, but they aren’t *that* great, especially considering the price. And the quality is nothing special either. Bose puts all their money into marketing, convincing people their product is high quality and high dollar. In addition, they have non-standard connectors, meaning when you buy Bose you can’t use anything other products. Also, they’re way behind on the HD curve.

I have a $200 set of Polk Audio surround speakers (RM6750) that are as good as anything I’ve heard from Bose. What are you connecting your speakers to?

For small speakers that actually are reviewed by magazines and given “Editors Choice” awards – look into Anthony Gallo speakers at Roundsound

    Fact:

    - Bose forces stores to sell all Bose speakers for a fixed price to create the illusion that Bose is a premium brand.

    - Bose advertises in every issue of AARP magazines to sell to the elderly – not a group known for good hearing

    - Bose sues any magazine that tries to review their speakers.

    - Bose does “Road Shows” to demo their speakers but hooks up $4,000+ worth of amps and equalizers behind the scenes to make their speakers sound good. If you spot the equipment – you are escorted out of the demo room. (I know people who had this happen.)
