How do I connect my laptop to my home theater system?

I have an Acer Aspire9503EWSMI laptop computer and while the speakers are okay, I would like to listen to online radio stations, saved music and other audio from my computer through my yamaha home theater system. What cord do I need to accomplish this?

    I used a minijack (which is a headphone jack) to an RCA (with the red and white ends for stereo sound) cable.

    But, it depends what kind of audio inputs your home theater system has on it.

    (I also use this to play my ipod through my home sound system, and it sounds great).

    Or you can use a network player. I use a Roku Soundbridge. It’s also wireless.

    You’ll need a sound blaster x-fi usb sound card. You’re also going to need a tos-link fiber optic cable. This will give you true 5.1 surround sound.
