I used a minijack (which is a headphone jack) to an RCA (with the red and white ends for stereo sound) cable.

(I also use this to play my ipod through my home sound system, and it sounds great).

Or you can use a network player. I use a Roku Soundbridge. It’s also wireless.
You’ll need a sound blaster x-fi usb sound card. You’re also going to need a tos-link fiber optic cable. This will give you true 5.1 surround sound.
