Can I make my sub work for my home theater system?

Home Theater
Forrest asked:

I have a 15' CV-X kicker, and a Amp for it with ported box. How can i connect it to my Home theater system? I want to connect the amp to it so it will hit hard, if i just plug the speaker in, its really weak. Im really looking for "how can i get power to the amp?" and will connecting the sub and the amp to the home theater system damage the home theater system?

It’s pretty simple really: you just need a 12v power converter box. The amp’s red & black wires – the ones that give it power – screw into the back of this little box. Here’s an example (currently listed on Ebay):

I used that exact model box when I did this very same project when I was younger, btw. Worked great. ADDED BONUS: If your receiver has a spare power outlet in the back of it (a more high-end feature), just plug in the converter box into it for power…and everything will turn on and off at the same time your receiver does! Enjoy!
