I recently replaced all the speakers and dashboard in my camry with new equipment(sony). It sounds amazing but doesn't kick enough. My dad has this really nice home theater subwoofer that he gave me. Could I put that in my car? Its like a $250 sub.
no, it’s 110 volt ac, unless you did an inverter
it will work if you dont have a 110 ac current that the sub needs to be plugged in. Thats completely hillbilly but I like it.
Depends on the sub and the amp. Most house subs are 8 ohms and most car amps are 4 ohms or lower. The amp will still preform with a 8 ohm speaker but it will not produce its peak rated power. How ever if the house speaker has a duel voice coil the ohms can be dropped by rewiring the speaker.
If the sub has a built in amplifier it is compatible with a power inverter box. Make sure you check the power watt rating on the amplifier and compare it to the inverter box. Most inverter boxes come with a additional wire that will give the option to run the inverters power supply directly to the battery to avoid a short or a fuse to blow because the cigarette lighter can not handle the power that is being pulled from the inverter. Please consult with someone who understands the basic understanding of power because a hot wire can result in damage to a vehicles wiring harness.
